Playing as Jackie in Franchise Mode – My Tribute Season
In honor of Jackie Robinson Day, I decided to do something special in Franchise Mode—run a full season as the Dodgers, but swap in Jackie Robinson as my starting 2B through the mlb the show stubsroster vault.
Let me tell you, it’s been a blast.
His presence on the field changes how I approach each game. I focus more on speed, contact hitting, and base stealing. I’ve built my roster around his playstyle—lots of athleticism, small ball, aggressive base paths. We’re halfway through the season and Jackie’s hitting .331 with 27 steals and 6 HRs.
The commentary even throws in Jackie-related lines during Dodger home games, which makes it even more immersive.
If you’re a Franchise Mode purist, I highly recommend trying this out. It’s a way to pay homage while playing your favorite mode. Plus, it adds a nice challenge. Jackie’s not going to crush 40 HRs, but he’s going to be clutch in big moments—just like in real life.
